I am a licensed mental health counselor. My focus is grief and loss counseling. This area is suited to me having experienced loss in my own life. While we all face loss in our lives, very few of us know how to handle it. Perhaps you grew up in a home where you did not talk about feelings. You kept those private and went about your business. However, you may be finding that keeping silent does not work for you. You are depressed, irritable, or just very sad all the time and wonder if you will ever laugh again.
I am currently a counselor with a background as a licensed nurse. This makes me unique, as I bring an understanding of the medical issues as well as the psychological ones. I specialize in senior issues, caregiver issues, end of life issues, substance abuse, and ordinary life issues.
For 10 years I have taught at Eastern Florida State College. As a mature adult student myself, this makes me especially qualified to offer counseling on both ends of the life span: seniors as well as student issues. I am familiar with depression, anxiety, career direction, and educational issues.
